About the Role

As the Café and Office Manager, you will manage daily operations of the MobSquad Calgary Café and Office, as well as run events hosted by MobSquad. You will create a shared space that is inviting, exciting, and offers the best coffee experience in Calgary. You will be representing the MobSquad brand to our community, and you will be the welcoming presence that sets the tone for any visitor’s experience.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality customer service in the MobSquad Café while taking orders, serving food and preparing drinks, and managing the POS system. Café hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
• Leading and managing the Front of House/Barista team, including all related staffing and shift scheduling activities; developing and improving shared Cafe and Office management procedures.
• Monitoring and ordering inventory; ensuring all expenses and invoices are dealt with appropriately for both the Café and office space.
• Building and maintaining relationships with customers as well as external vendors and partners.
• Ensuring a smooth opening and closing of the Café each day, including managing all related processes and tasks.
• Working closely with the Head of Finance to manage the Café P&L, including generating and presenting ideas on growing revenue and managing costs.
• Managing MobSquad Café’s social media presence as well as generating marketing ideas to grow the Café’s customer base.
• Meeting the needs of all internal and external users of the MobSquad office; responding to user requests; maintaining general office cleanliness and ensuring user adherence to office policies.
• Coordinating events and meetings hosted at the MobSquad Calgary Office, including those hosted by MobSquad as well as those hosted by external parties; ensuring the space is always welcoming and perfect.

About You

• You have demonstrated experience in a café or restaurant management role, including overseeing day-to-day operations, leading a team, managing inventory and expenses, and generating new ideas to grow the business.
• You have strong coffee knowledge and latte art skills, with a passion for providing customers with a high-quality experience.
• You have ProServe certification or are willing to pursue it.
• You have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• You have high EQ – you are able to interpret and understand the emotions of our café customers and barista team, you are genuinely curious about other people, and you are comfortable initiating conversations with strangers.
• You know that start-up life involves a high level of dedication to work, as well as continual adaptation and change. You are excited about this style of work, and about being involved in the various aspects of our ever-growing, ever-changing, business.
• You are a jill- or jack-of-all-trades, and the opportunity to wear multiple hats on any given day excites you.
