About the Role
As a Barista, you’ll make an impact by creating an inclusive, engaging, and fun environment every day. You will help manage the daily operations in the MobSquad Calgary Café. Your goal will be to create a shared space that is inviting, exciting, and offers the best coffee experience in Calgary. You will be representing the MobSquad brand to our community, and you will be the welcoming presence that sets the tone for any visitor’s experience.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring high-quality customer service in the MobSquad Café while taking orders, serving food and preparing drinks, and managing the POS system. Café hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
- Using the espresso machine to craft high-quality beverages.
- Ensuring all expenses and invoices are dealt with appropriately.
- Creating daily tabs and sending invoices for monthly tabs for our long-term customers.
- Opening and closing the Café each weekday, including managing all related processes.
- Organizing and maintaining inventory, ensuring efficient stock rotation, and adhering to best practices for product usage to minimize waste and optimize stock levels.
About You
- You have strong coffee knowledge and latte art skills, with a passion for providing customers with a high-quality experience.
- You have ProServe certification or are willing to pursue it.
- You have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- You have a high EQ – you’re able to interpret and understand the emotions of our café customers as well as our engineering team, you are genuinely curious about other people, and you are comfortable initiating conversations with strangers.
- You are a blast to be around. You are positive and inspire anyone within your orbit.
- You possess a strong work ethic and common sense; you are kind, courteous, empathetic, and respectful, and you are comfortable both receiving and providing constructive feedback.
- You are detail-oriented and have fantastic organizational skills.
- You can work well independently, but also seamlessly as part of a larger team; you have a natural tendency to be highly responsive both internally and externally.
- You care about making an impact and want to work with a company that has a strong social mission.
