We then work to provide financial solutions and connect them to the logistical support they need, facilitating their transformational journeys to study or work abroad.As our team continues to expand, we are seeking a Head of Credit that can marry quantitative aptitude and credit acumen. This role will report directly to our founder & CEO. The Head of Credit role will be pivotal to the success of Passage and will be responsible for building innovative and world class underwriting models which allow us to find and fund the most talented people around the world. Role SummaryThe Head of Credit role will be instrumental in building our credit & risk processes, and developing proprietary underwriting models from the ground up, while ensuring seamless integration with cross-functional teams. This role is ideal for a dynamic individual with a deep background in the quantitative side of credit models & underwriting, as well as the business & credit acumen to connect it to the rest of the organization's needs and goals.We believe Passage will be a once in a generation company, and it's important that we maintain an in-office working policy. We require candidates to either reside in Toronto or be open to relocating to the area and committing to a five-day-a-week in-office schedule. Responsibilities
  • Own and lead the process of improving our credit risk modelling and underwriting, including performing secondary research, finding and vetting potential data sources, updating underwriting & valuation models and working with our engineering team to implement changes
  • Develop the tools and processes to deeply understand performance levels and performance trends
  • Work with our product and engineering teams to design a rigorous, yet streamlined loan application and adjudication process
  • Build and maintain appropriate credit governance systems to ensure resilience and to meet the expectations of external stakeholders
  • Build trusted relationships with external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors and credit bureaus
  • Work with our capital markets team to raise debt capital
  • Develop our collections capabilities to provide the best possible customer experience while maintaining a strong collections recovery percentage
What We Are Looking For
  • Someone who is excited to innovate deeply in credit underwriting and has a deep empathy with our customer segments
  • The candidate must be highly intelligent, yet humble
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the sciences, engineering, mathematics, statistics, finance, or other analytical and quantitative discipline
  • 7+ years in the analytical side of consumer credit roles including data analysis, fraud & credit analysis, or other modeling areas
  • SQL, Python, AWS and data visualization skills
  • Extensive knowledge of different methodologies and technologies in machine learning modelling
  • Extensive knowledge of credit risk modeling
  • Ability to champion credit risk initiatives with several other teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Someone with a track record of building world class teams
