Your New Role and Team
Sanctuary–a multi award-winning LinkedIn Top Startup company–is seeking an exceptional PR & Communications Manager to join our Marketing and Communications team. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you’ll have direct insight and influence into the company’s PR and communications strategy, from ideation to implementation, for a mission-driven pioneer in AI and robotics. This role will work closely with other members of the marketing team and frequently liaise with an external PR team and members of the press.
The best candidates for this role have excellent writing and communications theory knowledge, are passionate about using technology to create lasting positive change in the world, and have 5+ years of agency and/or in-house PR and communications experience. You enjoy working with a close-knit and collaborative team with opportunities to engage cross functionally with other Sanctuary teams, and have natural ability to effectively communicate and cultivate strategic messaging for effective corporate storytelling. You’ll be a valued contributor as you learn and adapt to help lead a new and emerging industry of human-like intelligence in general-purpose robots.
Our Success Criteria
- Create, implement, and oversee PR and communications programs that effectively describe and promote the company across owned, earned, and paid channels
- Assist in the big-picture communications strategy and storytelling initiative of Sanctuary and our technology
- Set up and run an industry analyst and thought-leadership program, including the establishment of relationships, preparing and disseminating educational materials, arranging pre-briefings around key announcements, and owning all required communications to maintain those relationships
- Own key internal communications and messaging documents and continually iterate them with new and evolving strategies
- Manage the research and development of company messaging, product fact sheets, customer/partner/investor presentations, and other public-facing promotional materials
- Research, outline, write, and create informative, timely, and compelling content to be used on social media or as corporate blog posts, bylined articles, press releases, and internal communications
- Function as a key liaison between external PR agencies and the press
- Proactively track and manage inbound media inquiries received from the company’s website
- Build and maintain relationships and an internal database with relevant industry journalists
- Maintain internal coverage logs and monitor for new and industry-relevant pieces
- Assist with the planning and implementation of events with key third-party stakeholders and the press
- Research and apply for relevant industry and local events and awards that contribute to the overall success of Sanctuary and our mission
- Support the marketing and communications team with additional PR/marketing/communications activities as required
- 5+ years PR and communications experience, including creating and managing public facing digital content, such as web, email, mobile, and social media in the technology industry
- Excellent writing skills with experience authoring corporate blogs, bylined articles, messaging frameworks, and internal communications materials
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure campaigns launch on time, issue free, and the ability to manage multiple projects against multiple timelines at once
- Superior campaign management skills, from developing strategies to managing agencies and internal partners through execution
- Ability to function well in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
- Self-starter who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, working with many stakeholder across a variety of technical and business backgrounds
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
- Marketing and communications experience with AI, cognition, or robotics technologies a plus
- Advanced writing skills, ideally with experience in journalistic writing
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Proficient with Google Workspace
- Above all else, a consistently positive attitude and a willingness to do whatever it takes to create robust solutions to complex problems

Entry-rate Annual Salary: $110,000 CAD and up
Compensation:
At Sanctuary, we provide above average total compensation that includes three components: salary, equity, and benefits. Our goal is to ensure fairness in pay and we strive to make the overall package highly competitive with current market rates.
Equity:
Equity will play a significant role in the total compensation for this role. Our goal is to provide a generous equity compensation package, exceeding what is typically offered by companies of our size. The specific amount of equity will be communicated to candidates upon receiving an offer.

The compensation and benefits details provided for this role in Vancouver, BC are based on Sanctuary's market evaluation and may be subject to changes in the future. Your pay within the specified range will depend on various job-related factors, such as your past work experience, relevant education, and performance during interviews or work trials. Salary minimum provided is an entry-level rate for this role, as a requirement of the Pay Transparency Act in British Columbia.
